A friend of mine who lives off Ormand Avenue, Hampton Hill end, has had a letter through her door explaining about the line being closed the last two weeks of July.  States times etc and what is going on.  It involves more than the two weeks we have heard about with bringing in equipment to do the jobs over a couple of weekends.  Has anyone in Hampton had a letter yet?  I haven't

There was a similar sounding letter sent to the Methodist Church in Percy Road...

It implies the only closure is for the 2 weeks, 1:00am on 16th July to 06:00am on 31st July, with other preparations being done before then, but when trains aren't running anyway.

More to the point why haven't I received one.  At least that would let me know when I can't travel by train.  Oops just checked hospital appointments - oh can't make the one on the 27th - no trains.  HELP can we pleased be informed. I have altered the date already because of timing of the train, not knowing they will not exist

Hello Janice

This is what I posted about at the beginning of February and which you responded to on May 4th

I imagine that the rail company are using a door to door delivery service rather than Royal Mail so everybody won't get their letter at the same time. They have to cover the whole area so it will take a bit of time to get round to everybody

Copy of letter attached

Thanks Gareth for copy of the letter.  I of course knew about the discussion back in May but nobody seemed to know the exact dates, only that there would be no trains for the last 2 weeks of July and that wasn't set in stone

I've been an annual season ticket holder for years and I've not had anything either - typical South West Trains behaviour.
I've had their letter, and by Royal Mail delivery (as they have 'final mile' monopoly) albeit through a third party mailing house.

In short, some night work at the weekends, then totally shut for a fortnight.

At least when it's done there will be a new entrance at the strawberry hill depot meaning less use of our level crossing for access, and the Fulwell tunnel drainage issue should be permanently fixed
