Bringing People Together
You may have noticed that there's something of a hole in the middle of Station Road, just opposite the small parade of shops including Tail End Pet Shop, The All In One Keys and Shoe repairers and the Post Office.
Turns out we have a collapsed sewer which needs urgent repair so we're going to have a spot of traffic light controls in Station Road for the next couple of weeks.
If you need to be somewhere in a hurry and can avoid the area you'd probably do well to find an alternate route
BUT do try to keep supporting your local traders as road works like this can have a really damaging effect on takings. If it means parking a little way away and walking down then please do so.
Gareth, do you know when the work (and the traffic lights) are due to start and end?
Well they're supposed to have started - but cycling by just now on the old Cargo Bike I see it's still waiting. According to the email I received today
Thames Water currently on site to attend to a collapsed sewer at the following location.
Location : Station Road junction with Belgrade Road (Hampton)
Defect : Collapsed Sewer in the middle of the carriageway
Works duration : 03/09/2013 to 15/09/2013
Traffic Management 2-way traffic signal
Company : Thames Water
I was going to mention that Bill.
Gareth, I thought this was in hand?
Checked with interim head of parks and he was under the impression this had been addressed some months ago - clearly not. He's getting onto it again

I've raised it with the parks department before but no action appears to be forthcoming. Oh brave new world of outsourced commissioning! Time was when staff were employed and that was that; now the few remaining council officers need to make contact with their commissioned contract liaison contact and request the work.
Its getting to the point where I quite fancy popping down with a bag of top soil from Squires and a fistful of grass seeds just to get it sorted.
Now the 111 buses are on diversion the drivers are even more aggressive and seem to stop at quite random places. This morning, a driver waved away a couple of school children, in a very rude way, and didn't stop as they were by Waitrose, which is where the bus seems to stop sometimes. The bus was empty like the majority that rattle through Hampton.
The temporary stops are further down Percy Road, near the junction with Upper Sunbury Road.
But yeah, the bus drivers do seem a tad aggressive - already lost my wing mirror to one of them on this diversion as he didn't want to wait for someone coming the opposite direction.
I've posted the comments about the London United drivers onto the Bus Priority Manager at LU.
Does anyone know where they're diverting the 111 on Sunday? With the level crossing being closed I believe the plan was to go down Ashley road and over the bridge to station road, but of course they can't do this now...
